Question

A 10-month-old baby fell off the bed last night and cried at the time but stopped crying after being picked up and vomited a little milk. After that, the baby hummed a few times and fell asleep. The next morning, the baby’s behavior was no different from usual. What should parents be particularly attentive to?

Answer

If the baby cries immediately after falling but continues to eat, play, and take naps without any issues, it is usually not serious. However, if the baby shows symptoms such as refusing to eat, being unable to be woken up during naps, poor mental state, dry heaves, or headaches after falling or within a few days, it could be a sign of intracranial hemorrhage, and the child should be taken to the hospital for a re-examination immediately. Additionally, if the baby’s limbs move freely without any obvious pain, numbness, or swelling, this indicates there may be no fractures; if there are symptoms of limited limb movement or obvious swelling and deformities, the baby should be taken to an orthopedic department for treatment.
