Question

The child sometimes blinks, sometimes shrugs, and sometimes limps, and now also nods and trembles. These symptoms appear in stages. Is this a tic disorder or just a habit of the child?

Answer

This is not ADHD but a typical symptom of pediatric tic disorder (TS). Most importantly, do not let the child feel abnormal. Just say it’s a temporary phenomenon caused by not eating well, not drinking enough water, or not taking a good nap. If the symptoms are particularly obvious and frequent, for mild tic disorders that are not severe, family members do not need to pay much attention, especially not to make the child feel abnormal. Adults just need to stop giving the child junk food and drinks, increase playtime and cartoon time, spend more time outdoors with other children, have a light diet, and improve deep sleep. It will soon return to normal.
