Question

My baby has vomited twice today, once at around 9 AM and again at 9 PM, both in a -like. The baby has been dressed warmer because of the cold weather. We haven’t given any treatment yet and want to know what’s wrong with the baby; could it be related to air aspiration or indigestion? How much milk should be fed each time?

Answer

It could be air aspiration or indigestion that’s causing the vomiting. Generally, feeding around 50 milliliters each time is appropriate, but it shouldn’t be less than 60 milliliters. After feeding, do not immediately lay the baby down; instead, hold the baby upright, with the head tilted to one side higher, and gently pat the back for 5 to 10 minutes to reduce the occurrence of vomiting. If the baby still frequently vomits, consider giving an aid to digestion medication and consult a pediatrician for further diagnosis and treatment. Wishing your baby a healthy growth.
