Question
My baby has had a fever for three days and I’ve seen several doctors. Last night, I went to a big hospital, and they gave her an IV and medication, but it didn’t help at all. She would get feverish a few hours after taking the medicine, and then feverish again a few hours later. This afternoon, after taking fever-reducing medicine and getting an IV, she had a fever again at night. Each time, her temperature was around 38.5 degrees. The fever-reducing medicine only works for a few hours before she gets feverish again. What should I do? She is two and a half years old.
Answer
The baby has had a fever for three days with persistent high fever that doesn’t subside, and treatment by several doctors has been ineffective. It is recommended to further check blood routine to clarify the cause of the illness before symptomatic treating.
