Question

My child is now 36 days old. In the first 30 days, they pooped 5 to 6 times a day. From day 31 to day 33, they pooped once a day. Now they haven’t pooped for two days. Do I need to give them some medicine? They don’t like drinking water either!

Answer

Constipation usually occurs again after the baby is a month old. Constipation is a folk concept that refers to a change in the baby’s bowel movement pattern. Babies who experience constipation again are often breastfed, and as the rate of breastfeeding decreases, some babies may not have a bowel movement for 2 to 3 days, or even up to 15 days, without showing any pain. When they do have a bowel movement, it is still yellow and soft, without any lumps, and the amount is not particularly large. This phenomenon is called constipation. Best wishes!
