Question
My baby is two months old, and she’s been having a bit of a cough and hiccuping over the past couple of days. Today, the coughing has become more frequent. We haven’t given her any medicine before. Is there any medication I can give her?
Answer
This condition in your baby might be caused by a viral infection leading to an upper respiratory tract infection. You can take the following measures: use a warm towel for cold compress, keep your home well-ventilated, and give her small sips of water frequently. For mild symptoms, medication is usually not necessary, and she should improve in 3 to 5 days. If the cough, nasal congestion, and runny nose are more pronounced, you can give her pediatric paracetamol or corydalis granules. These symptoms should also improve within 3 to 5 days.
