Question

My baby is now 70 days old and usually has a bowel movement every 3-4 days. Each bowel movement is normal, and the baby is in good spirits. The baby is mostly breastfed with occasional formula feedings! Today, the stool seems to have a slight black tint, mixed with normal yellow. I want to know what’s going on?

Answer

After reviewing your description and the photo of your baby’s stool, I want to say that this situation is not a big issue, and you don’t need to worry too much. Your baby might be experiencing physiological bloating, which is common in children who are mostly breastfed. Once you start introducing complementary foods like mashed vegetables or vegetable juices after five months, this stool condition may be relieved. Wishing your baby a speedy recovery!
