Question

Why is it that my baby, who is now just three months old, still can’t maintain stable deep sleep? Especially since he can sleep well when held, but wakes up as soon as I put him down?

Answer

Babies of three months generally have longer sleep times, but their quality of deep sleep may not be good, and they don’t like to be held to sleep. Being held may make the child feel safer, but it is not recommended to do so as the child might find it harder to fall asleep on their own in bed. It’s best to place the baby in bed to sleep. When the baby cries, the mother can gently pat the child’s body to let the child feel her presence. Avoid rocking the baby to sleep, as the child’s brain development is still fragile and strong movements might cause slight Brain concussion.
