Question

Dear Parent, my son is just over 6 months old. He started to feel a sore throat when he talks, and I noticed his voice is a bit hoarse. Additionally, he has a persistent fever that hasn’t gone down. How should I treat his low fever due to tonsillitis?

Answer

If a child has tonsillitis, first-line treatment can include symptomatic antibiotic medications. Additionally, regional treatments such as medication sprays or laser therapy can be administered. In cases of severe throat pain, some painkillers may be appropriate. For persistent fever, antipyretics should be used promptly. Physical cooling can be considered if the temperature does not exceed 38.5 degrees Celsius. In cases of recurrent inflammation, surgical treatment may be considered. During this period, ensure the child gets adequate rest and consumes more vegetables and fruits.
