Question
A baby of 1 year and 3 months old still cannot walk independently, has weak legs, needs assistance to walk, and sometimes crawls. Why can other children of the same age walk, but not my baby?
Answer
The time for each child to stand and walk varies greatly. Some babies may try to walk as early as 9 months, while others may not start trying until 14-15 months or later. It is recommended that parents take their child to the hospital for a pediatric health check-up, undergo a cranial and brain MRI to rule out the possibility of cerebral palsy, and at the same time, pay attention to the child’s intellectual and language development. If there is any delay, early comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation training are needed.
