Question
What is the latest possible interval between pentavalent vaccine doses?
Answer
It is recommended to administer at least a one-month interval between doses of the pentavalent vaccine. A slightly later time interval will not affect the vaccine’s effectiveness. The pentavalent vaccine can prevent diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and Haemophilus influenzae type B infections. Generally, three basic doses are administered at around 2, 3, 4, or 3, 4, 5 months of age, and a booster dose is administered at 18 months. The vaccination site should be kept dry and clean within 24 hours.
