Question
My baby has recently been suffering from phlegm in the throat and coughing. We’ve given her medicine and had several injections, but there’s been no improvement. Now, she’s also experiencing diarrhea and vomiting. What should we do? How have previous treatments been and what were their effects?
Answer
She has received several injections at the hospital, all small ones, and has undergone nebulizer therapy, but none of these have been effective. What kind of help are we hoping for? Treatment methods and suggestions to help the child:
- Always keep the indoor air fresh, open windows for ventilation at least twice a day, each time for 20 minutes, to reduce the chance of respiratory infections.
- Maintain a suitable indoor temperature and humidity; the room temperature should be around 22-25 degrees Celsius, with humidity between 50%-60%.
- Keep the child away from public places, especially during the flu season. Try to avoid taking the child to crowded places like shopping malls and convenience stores, and do not visit sick people’s homes to prevent cross-infection.
