Question

A child who is just over 1 year and 10 days old has been experiencing a persistent fever two days after receiving the hand, foot, and mouth disease vaccine, with the highest temperature reaching 38.2 degrees Celsius, and a normal temperature of 37.3 degrees Celsius during the day. The child’s mental state and bowel movements are normal. When the child first had a fever on the night of vaccination, half of the Shu Gui Granules were administered, but only absorbed half and accompanied by vomiting. When the fever recurred, the same medication was given again, along with physical cooling measures such as wiping with warm water, while maintaining normal diet. How should this be handled?

Answer

Fever after vaccination is a normal reaction. If the temperature is below 38.5 degrees Celsius, it is usually not necessary to take antipyretic medication.
