Question

My baby keeps having fevers that don’t seem to drop below 37.5 degrees. Even after taking fever-reducing medication, the fever returns after about five or six hours. We went to the hospital and were told it’s a viral infection with minor tracheal and lung issues. The baby has coughs with phlegm and purulent mucus, and runny nose. Can oseltamivir help reduce the fever? Here are the medications prescribed by the hospital, and we’ve been taking them for a day, but the fever keeps coming back and forth?

Answer

Generally, viral infections take about a week to resolve. It’s not possible for the temperature to drop to normal in just one day. Please make sure to take the medication on time, drink plenty of water, and rest. Try to stay at home and avoid going out or attending kindergarten for a few days. Viral decomposition and metabolism take time; it can’t be cured in just one day, let alone three days. So don’t worry, as long as the temperature drops, you can continue taking the medication on schedule. Wishing you a happy life. python
