Question
My baby is 38 days old and received the BCG vaccine one month ago. Recently, I noticed that the vaccination site has swelled up, and there are bumps and redness under the armpit. What is going on?
Answer
Generally speaking, after receiving the BCG vaccine, there may be regional swelling and inflammatory reactions, and the area should not be exposed to water. If you find that the lymph nodes under the same armpit are swollen, causing the swelling in the armpit to exceed 1 centimeter, this is usually a normal phenomenon. However, if the swelling exceeds 1 centimeter, it is recommended that you take your baby to the hospital for further examination and treatment.
