Question

Doctor, my baby is now 16 months old, and she has fallen twice in the past week, both quite severely. She sustained a large bump and bruising, which has persisted for several days now. She’s currently in good condition, eating and sleeping well. Should I be worried? Since my baby has started walking, she often falls and is frequently severely injured. Should I be worried about it affecting her brain development and future intellectual abilities?

Answer

It’s normal for babies to fall during the learning-to-walk phase, and they need to be supervised by their parents.
