Question
My child has been feeling listless lately, often with a vacant gaze and occasional trembling limbs. I’m not sure how to distinguish these symptoms from an epileptic seizure.
Answer
To accurately diagnose an epileptic seizure, it’s important to recognize that its characteristics can differ from those of other types of seizures. For instance, during an epileptic seizure, the patient typically does not fall to the ground or experience whole-body convulsions as they might during other types of seizures. The patient may suddenly stop all movements, recover within half a minute, and some patients may remain conscious during the seizure.
