Question

My baby is six months old. Since four months, they have had a reversed day and night schedule, sleeping 7 to 8 hours during the day and staying awake all night. They sleep all day and play all night. What should I do? I’m worried that the reversed schedule might affect their growth and development, but I’m also afraid of waking them up during sleep, which might affect them even more. Should I just let it be natural? Will they naturally adjust as they grow older?

Answer

I suggest giving your baby a bath and a massage before bedtime to help them calm down. Create a quiet and deep sleep environment by pulling the curtains, playing soft music, and dimming the lights. Avoid overexciting your child before bedtime as excessive excitement is not conducive to falling asleep. Make sure to supplement with Vitamin D and expose them to sunlight appropriately, and ensure adequate calcium intake. Help your child establish a day and night concept by reducing sleep during the day and increasing it at night; after some time, they should be able to adjust.
