Question
My baby is 13 months old. She started running a fever at 4 pm yesterday, with the temperature reaching 37.5 degrees and peaking at 40.4 degrees. After taking antipyretic medication, the body temperature was maintained for 3 hours but then fluctuated back up to 39 degrees. Today, we went to the hospital for a blood test, and the doctor prescribed two days of saline treatment and Amoxicillin. Suddenly today, I noticed a large red patch on my baby’s body, which is not swollen, and there are also small patches under her chin. Could this be an allergic reaction to the saline? We had already done a skin test before and the results were good before we were referred here. Is this eczema or dermatitis? Please help us examine it, thank you.
Answer
I’m glad to assist you. Based on your description, the rash on your baby may be an allergic reaction. It is recommended to avoid giving your baby anything other than light meals during the saline infusion period and to closely observe the rash’s regression. If the rash persists, further detailed examination is suggested. I hope these suggestions are helpful to you, and wish your baby a healthy recovery!
