Question

A child fell around 4:30 PM and hit their head on the ground. They didn’t cry and continued playing. Could this result in a concussion?

Answer

If the head is the first part to hit the ground, the most severe consequence could be intracranial hemorrhage or a concussion. Possible symptoms include: vomiting, coma, sharp crying, tremors, etc. If the child exhibits these symptoms, please take them to the hospital immediately for examination, which may require a CT scan of the head or an EEG for diagnosis. If the child shows no such symptoms, they should be closely monitored. In case of any abnormal symptoms, they should be taken to the emergency department immediately. Generally, if there are no abnormal symptoms within 48 to 72 hours, you can rest assured.
