Question
How much vitamin should an infant of six months old consume daily? What are the requirements for each type of vitamin? I can’t find this information online. Also, is it okay to mix milk powder with the rice noodles I bought?
Answer
Following these standards for feeding might lead to unnecessary trouble. Determining how many vitamins to intake daily is like trying to estimate, not only the amount of protein, carbohydrates, calories, fats, and various trace elements such as iron, zinc, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, but also considering substances that medical science hasn’t yet tested. Moreover, there are many different types of vitamins, from A, B, C, D, E, to B1, B2, …, B12. The human body is complex; each food contains numerous vitamins, minerals, and proteins. It’s impossible to weigh and calculate the exact amount of each nutrient in every food item. Even if you calculate it all and consume it, the absorption and the body’s need for these substances vary from person to person, leading to different elimination. Therefore, it’s impossible to achieve this goal; even if you think you have achieved it, the results may not be ideal. So, just eat a variety of fish, eggs, milk, fruits, vegetables—eat a balanced diet—and you won’t lack anything. There’s no need to calculate these things. Rice noodles mixed with milk powder are designed for younger children who might not want to eat if the milk flavor is missing. The ones with added milk are usually more expensive and more nutritious than plain rice noodles. However, you can choose either one as long as your child is willing to eat it.
