Question

A 5-year-old child experienced dry heaves, abdominal pain, and constipation after a fever. The child is listless. After undergoing a color Doppler ultrasound and blood tests, urine tests show no abnormalities. The child’s spirits improved and vomiting stopped after taking medication, but occasional abdominal pain persists, with no appetite; the child only consumes noodles and congee. The parents inquire whether the situation is severe, whether all the medication needs to be taken, and whether a follow-up visit is necessary.

Answer

This type of symptom is relatively common in children, and enlarged abdominal lymph nodes may be related to gastrointestinal inflammation. It is recommended to consume easily digestible foods recently, increase the intake of fresh vegetables and fruits appropriately, and massage the abdomen clockwise daily to relieve constipation. After constipation is relieved, abdominal pain should decrease. The recovery of enlarged lymph nodes may take longer. Personally, I suggest temporarily stopping the medication and closely observing any changes in symptoms.
