Question
How should I treat my infant’s nighttime sleep disturbances?
Answer
If your infant frequently wakes up and cries at night, it may be due to a calcium deficiency. It is recommended to take precautions against the cold and ensure adequate sun exposure. Calcium supplements such as “Levocalcet” or “Forteo” can be taken for treatment. For infants aged 4 to 6 months who cry at night, it is advisable to observe them for a few minutes first. Most infants will fall asleep on their own after a few minutes. If the crying persists, parents should go to comfort the child, but without turning on the light, and without playing with them or holding and swaying them. If the crying intensifies, check again in two minutes and consider whether the infant is hungry, if the diaper is wet, or if there are fever symptoms.
