Question

Will there be adverse effects if the DTP vaccine for my baby is delayed? My baby is 3 months old and should have been vaccinated, but it has been delayed for half a month now. The community hospital keeps saying there’s no stock, and they’re not receiving any supplies. They say it won’t be available until March 2019. What should I do? Can I report this situation to relevant departments?

Answer

Delaying vaccination does not pose any harm to the baby. Vaccination is meant to prevent diseases. Generally, if a baby is not feeling well, they cannot be vaccinated on time and may require a delay. Currently, the DTP vaccines for children are determined by each province and distributed in layers. When shortages occur, vaccination units also have no way to handle it, leading to overcrowding issues and increased workload, which we understand and are awaiting. The vaccination unit has said that March is the time for vaccination, so vaccines should be available immediately.
