Question
The baby has a fever of 38 degrees, is coughing, and has very red lips. The baby feels hot and sweats a lot. Can the baby eat Sichuan pear soup? Should we add any medication to be taken with it?
Answer
Babies with a cough can eat Sichuan pear soup. Fever and cough are usually caused by bacterial or viral infections. If the body temperature is above 38.5 degrees Celsius, it’s recommended to drink plenty of water, use physical methods to cool down, and if the body temperature is below 38.5℃, you may need to take antipyretic medication. Drink more water, enhance warmth retention, and generally, sweating will occur about an hour after taking the medicine, and the body temperature will rise after sweating. During the acute infectious period, fever may last for 3-5 days and the intervals between fevers will shorten. You can take symptomatic anti-inflammatory and antiviral medications. The diet should be light and easily digestible, with an emphasis on eating foods rich in vitamin C.
