Question
My child is 6 months old, and they sweat a lot at night while sleeping, and the blanket gets soaked. They also frequently scream. What kind of disease could this be? I would like to receive what kind of assistance: what is the situation?
Answer
Dear parents, if your child always sweats during deep sleep at night and also screams again, the first consideration should be a calcium deficiency. However, the main manifestation of a calcium deficiency is sweating, restless sleep, and hair loss on the pillow, with screaming being rare. It is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible for tests of alkaline phosphatase and blood calcium, and it’s best to have an EEG done and check muscle tone to rule out the possibility of epilepsy. I have already started taking vitamin D in the morning and supplementing with calcium before bedtime each night.
