When a child catches a cold, the pathogens may enter the nasal cavity. If the child cannot resist, the pathogens may further enter the trachea and bronchi. If the child cannot fight them off, the pathogens may reach the lungs, leading to pneumonia. The symptoms of pneumonia usually include fever and coughing. For children so young, they often do not cough up phlegm, which makes the recovery process of pneumonia slower.
