Question

Recently, my baby cries frequently in the afternoon and evening, gets easily tired, and even if I try to soothe them after they fall asleep, they start crying again as soon as I put them down. Holding them makes them frown and cry, but they seem to be a bit better when I pat them, but I can’t soothe them for a long time. I’m not sure if my baby is uncomfortable somewhere.

Answer

The baby’s crying may be due to colic. Colic has the following characteristics: 1. It usually starts around 2 to 4 weeks after birth; 2. It often occurs in the evening; 3. It happens at least three days a week for at least three weeks; 4. The baby cries and kicks their legs or curls up when they have colic; 5. Temporary comfort only works for a short time, and as soon as the comfort stops, the baby starts crying again. Colic usually resolves on its own by three to four months.
