Question

My child has been born for twenty-six days now, and the jaundice still hasn’t gone away. Previous treatment and its effects: I have picked up medicine from the hospital. What kind of help do I need: How can I get rid of the jaundice?

Answer

Physiological jaundice usually appears 2 to 3 days after birth, peaks between 4 to 6 days, and subsides between 7 to 10 days. If it has not faded after half a month, this situation should be considered as pathological jaundice. It is beneficial to expose the baby to sunlight more and drink some glucose water to help with jaundice. If the baby’s skin is still very yellow, it is best to take them to the hospital to check the jaundice level. If it is too high, blue light therapy may be required.
