Question
What should I do if my 6-year-old child often wets the bed at night and has frequent urination?
Answer
It is normal for children to occasionally wet the bed after the age of 3. However, if a child continues to wet the bed at night after the age of 5 and does so more than twice a month, it is medically referred to as “nocturnal enuresis.” This condition may be caused by the child sleeping too deeply and being unable to wake up to urinate. It is recommended to avoid overexertion during the day and to prevent sleeping too deeply at night, which can make it difficult to wake up to urinate. Additionally, it is important to limit fluid intake before bedtime to avoid increasing nighttime urine output.
