Questions
Newborns often vomit in the first few months after birth, sometimes with lumpy material. When did this situation start? Was there a forceful vomiting with lumps in the second month? What treatments have been tried, and how effective were they? I want to understand what’s going on, as continuous vomiting is not a long-term solution, and I hope to receive assistance.
Answers
Most infants will vomit multiple times a day in the first few months after birth. This is because, at birth, the upper gateway of the stomach is relatively relaxed, allowing milk to easily reflux into the esophagus. Additionally, newborns have a higher larynx position, which causes them to swallow more air while feeding, making it easier for milk to be vomited out. If the baby’s mental state is good, treatment is usually not necessary. It is recommended to keep the baby’s upper body elevated when they are vomiting to prevent aspiration. Reduce the amount of milk fed each time, and if using artificial feeding, choose an appropriate nipple to prevent inhaling too much air.
