Question

The baby is just over a month old. The skin was good at birth, but recently, small red spots have appeared on the face. The baby was diagnosed with mild bronchiolitis at 20 days old and was prescribed amoxicillin. By the 25th day, the condition had turned into bronchitis, and the baby is currently continuing to take amoxicillin, along with nebulized inhalation treatment. I would like to inquire if the nebulized medication contains hormones, and whether it’s possible for the red spots to appear due to this, or are there other reasons? Will these red spots disappear on their own?

Answer

Unless the baby is allergic to the medication, recurrent rash symptoms may not appear. If the red spots are limited to the face, it may be eczema. This condition is common in infants aged 1 to 3 months and is particularly prone to appearing on the cheeks and forehead. In severe cases, it can also affect the body and limbs. Typical skin damage includes erythema, papules, and blisters. When these symptoms merge into patches, they will gradually spread to surrounding areas. It is advisable to seek medical examination and treatment in a timely manner.
