Question
My baby has been suffering from red and white, rough skin rashes for two months now. They started around the navel and have now spread to the back, even the scalp with dandruff-like flakes. What could be the cause? Is it a disease or a skin condition? See the attached photos for the condition.
Answer
Based on your description and your child’s symptoms, it is initially suspected that your baby may have allergic dermatitis. This could be due to an allergic reaction to chemical fiber clothing or other irritants. It is recommended to use anti-allergy ointment topically, avoid scratching, eat less spicy food, seafood, and beef or mutton, reduce bathing frequency, and apply an oily baby cream after bathing.
