Question

The 5-month-old baby has started to introduce solid foods, but the frequency of bowel movements has increased, with at least five to six times a day, and the stool has become green and loose. Should solid foods be continued to be introduced? What was the past treatment and its effectiveness? What kind of assistance is needed? How should it be treated?

Answer

The baby’s main food is breast milk or formula milk, with additional foods including plain water, cod liver oil (with a ratio of vitamin A to vitamin D of 3:1), fruit juice, vegetable juice, vegetable soup, meat soup, rice porridge, egg yolk paste, vegetable puree, and fruit puree. It is recommended to feed every 4 hours. The feeding schedule in the morning is as follows: 6 am, breastfeed for 10 to 20 minutes, or formula milk 120 to 150 milliliters; 8 am, feed 1/8 of an egg yolk with warm water, fruit juice, or vegetable juice 90 milliliters; 10 am, breastfeed for 10 to 20 minutes.
