Question

A 42-day-old baby vomits a lot of milk every evening, and this happens around 7 PM every day. The baby’s face also has some small red spots. What should I do?

Answer

Newborns’ stomachs are not fully developed, so vomiting is normal. The small red spots could be heat rash or milk rash. To reduce vomiting, after each feeding, you can hold the baby upright and pat their back. If the red spots are due to a milk rash, avoid letting milk get on the baby’s face. If the baby is overheated, pay attention to the room temperature and do not dress the baby in too many clothes. Choose loose and breathable fabrics instead.
