Question

Why is my baby’s genitals red and swollen, and it hasn’t gone away from morning until night?

Answer

Considering the baby may have balanoposthitis, it is recommended to consult a pediatric urologist for further examination. If diagnosed with balanoposthitis, treatment may include prepuce retraction and medication, and in some cases, oral or intravenous antibiotics may be necessary. Additionally, if the baby has a pinhole foreskin condition, where the foreskin cannot be fully retracted to cover the glans completely, leaving only a small hole, it should be cleaned regularly. When redness and swelling occur, a potassium permanganate solution of appropriate concentration can be used for cleaning.
