Question

My child is three and a half years old, and recently, for no apparent reason, he has been frequently suffering from nosebleeds, and the blood is always bright red. He often picks his nose, and we have tried to stop him, but lately, the frequency of nosebleeds has increased. We’ve also taken him to the hospital for a check-up, and they said it’s nothing serious, possibly due to nose picking. Could there be other reasons for the nosebleeds? What should we do for treatment?

Answer

There are many causes of nosebleeds, such as indigestion, rhinitis, or even ruptured blood vessels inside the nose. Both indigestion and accidentally ruptured blood vessels can lead to nosebleeds, and if severe enough, they can also cause rhinitis. If both sides are broken, pinch both nostrils. After the nosebleed stops, there may be clots in the nostrils. You can pull the side with oozing blood towards the bridge of the nose to help clot the blood, then apply medication. It is recommended to be careful not to pick your nose unnecessarily; wishing for good health.
