Question

Pediatrics: What to Do If a Two-Month-Old Baby Still Has Jaundice on the Nose?

Answer

Newborns often have a slight yellowish tint on their faces right after birth, which is a normal physiological jaundice. Jaundice can be categorized into physiological and pathological types. Physiological jaundice usually fades gradually over time and does not require special treatment. However, pathological jaundice may have adverse effects on the baby’s health and requires timely treatment. It is not possible to determine whether your baby’s jaundice is physiological or pathological based on a description alone. It is recommended that you take your baby to the hospital for a check-up, including measuring bilirubin levels, to determine the type of jaundice.
