Question

How to manage newborn jaundice?

Answer

Newborn jaundice can be divided into physiological jaundice and pathological jaundice. For full-term infants, jaundice usually subsides within 7 to 14 days after birth; premature infants may take 2 to 3 weeks to dissipate. If the jaundice persists beyond the normal range, further examination and treatment may be required. In some cases, the baby may need to undergo blue light therapy to help reduce the level of bilirubin in the body. Regular health checks for the baby and adherence to the doctor’s advice and treatment plan are recommended.
