Question

Is surgery necessary for an infant’s undescended testicle on one side?

Answer

The descent of a newborn’s testicles usually completes within three months after birth. If one testicle has not descended one month after birth, it is advisable to check the inguinal area on the same side to see if the testicle is present. If the testicle is confirmed to be there, it can be observed, as there are cases where the testicle descends within three months after birth. During the observation period, it may be beneficial to give the child a supplement called ‘Strengthening the Spleen and Stopping Nocturnal Enuresis’ to help with testicular descent. If the testicle does not descend by the three-month mark, surgical intervention may be considered. Additionally, if the child has problems with nocturnal enuresis, urine tests and ultrasound examinations can be performed, and medications that nourish the nerves and alleviate symptoms may be prescribed for treatment.
