Question
Can my baby take medicine if they get a cold after vaccination yesterday?
Answer
This is likely an upper respiratory tract infection. Using cefaclor and paracetamol/phenylephrine should be appropriate. However, to finally reduce the fever, it depends on anti-inflammatory treatment, at least 2 days of medication; there will be repeated fevers before the inflammation is controlled. During this period, if there is a fever, physical cooling methods such as warm water baths, alcohol-based wipes, and ice packs can be used. If physical cooling fails to reduce the fever, appropriate antipyretics should be used. Paracetamol/phenylephrine can also reduce fever, as can children’s fever suppositories and medications like Merck’s Mefenamic Acid, and other brands like Miniconcin and Gengong Zaixin.
