Question

Why is my baby’s vomiting so severe?

Answer

Infants have stomachs that are not protruding like those of older children and adults; instead, they are in a horizontal position. With a small stomach capacity and limited food storage, and the stomach’s contraction function not yet fully developed, it’s easy for them to experience vomiting. After feeding, placing the baby upright on an adult’s shoulder and gently patting the baby’s back can help expel air swallowed into the stomach, reducing stomach pressure.
