Question

I’m not sure what’s going on, but my child has been very disobedient lately, crying and fussing non-stop. We’ve gone to the hospital and even had checks done, but nothing seems to help. Is a temperature of 37.9°C considered a fever?

Answer

The baby has a fever; anything over 37.5°C is considered a fever. It’s important to cool the baby down physically by using fever-reducing patches, then taking a warm bath and wiping the body to dissipate heat. If the temperature exceeds 38.5°C, symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication should be administered to prevent the baby from experiencing high fever seizures. Considering the possibility of a cold, you can use pediatric paracetamol and chlorphenamine granules for treatment, drink plenty of water, and ensure proper warmth. In some cases, intravenous treatment may be necessary.
