Question
What diseases can pediatric surgery treat? What symptoms fall under the purview of internal medicine? How is pediatric colonoscopy performed?
Answer
- Prepare the necessary items and the patient and environment at the bedside, similar to a large volume unrestricted colonoscopy.
- Lubricate the rectal tube, connect the irrigating solution to the rectal tube, release any air bubbles, and clamp the rectal tube. Insert the tube 7 to 10 cm, release the clamp to allow the solution to flow fully into the rectum. After washing, inject 5 to 10 ml of warm water.
- Gently squeeze the rectal tube and withdraw it. Instruct the patient to retain the bowel wash for 10 to 20 minutes before defecating.
