Questions

Is newborn jaundice treated with blue light therapy necessary? Recently, my child has been crying persistently, and after examination, no obvious cause was found. I am seeking advice on jaundice treatment.

Answers

Depending on the type of newborn jaundice, most physiological jaundice can resolve on its own, and exposure to sunlight can help improve it. If it is pathological jaundice that appears within 24 hours of birth, with a deep level of jaundice and rapid progression, or recurs after resolution, further medical evaluation and treatment may be required. In cases of infection, such as fever leading to an increase in white blood cells, which may indicate a bacterial infection causing a cold, consider undergoing anti-infection treatment.
