Question

My child was born a few days ago, and recently, I don’t know why they keep scratching their ears. How should I treat a child’s reddish voice?

Answer

A reddish voice in children may be caused by internal heat and inflammation. If the internal heat is excessive, you can give your child more plain water to drink, adding a small amount of salt to the water. Alternatively, you can offer watermelon juice, taro water, or bitter melon water as drinks to quickly reduce heat and inflammation. Particularly, both plain water and bitter melon water have anti-inflammatory properties. The diet should be light, avoiding fish and shrimp, while other meats and vegetables can be consumed. If there is inflammation accompanied by pain, some symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication may be necessary.
