Question

What discomforts might a baby experience after receiving the BCG vaccine?

Answer

Generally, about 3 weeks after the BCG vaccination, the injection site may become red and swollen. The center will gradually soften and form a small white pustule. After the pustule breaks open, pus is discharged, and it takes 1-2 weeks for the wound to scab over. The healing process can leave a circular scar. This process usually lasts for about 2 months. The vaccination may also commonly cause lymph nodes near the injection site to swell, which is a normal reaction.
