Question
There is a small hole above the front of my ear, which sometimes itches and can produce a milky, smelly secretion. I discovered in the summer of 2002 that there was discharge from the hole, and I have not received any treatment since then. I have never been treated and would like to know how to treat it, which hospital is more professional, and the approximate cost.
Answer
There is a small hole above the front of your ear, which sometimes itches and can produce a milky, smelly secretion. This may be due to a chronic otitis media causing a preauricular fistula. Anti-inflammatory treatment should be administered, and a detailed examination by an otolaryngology department is recommended to rule out diseases such as tuberculosis. It is suggested to go to the Provincial First or Second Hospital for treatment; the specific cost is unclear, but the cost at an ophthalmology hospital may be lower. Please choose a hospital based on your medical insurance situation.
