Question

My son is 1 year and 2 months old, and he is always on the move. He doesn’t like anything for more than two minutes and always wants to try something new. He also dislikes putting everything in his mouth (including picking things up from the ground to eat). I want to know if this is ADHD, and what treatments are available?

Answer

Firstly, ADHD is not primarily or solely determined by hyperactivity or restlessness. At this age, it is a normal behavior for children to be active. As they start to move their limbs freely, practice walking, and expand their range of movement, it’s a great opportunity for them to explore the world. When children come into this world, everything is new to them, so everything is fun and they want to touch everything. This is how children perceive the world. If an adult were placed in a completely unfamiliar environment, knowing nothing, and unable to speak or actively pick up things within a year, that adult would also seem very active.
