Question

My child has been crying and not eating much lately. What can a 5-month-old baby eat?

Answer

Introducing complementary foods should be age-appropriate:

  • From 4 to 6 months, you can add: thin rice porridge, egg yolks, fruit purees, or add minced vegetables to thin noodle soup with a little cooking oil.
  • From 7 to 12 months, you can add: soft noodles, egg custard, tofu, rice balls, various minced vegetables, fish meat, minced lean meat, etc. Start with grains and gradually transition to vegetables, fruits, fish and poultry eggs, and bean products. You can also choose some baby nutrition complementary food series products for supplementation.
